GETTING STARTED

Answers are here.

Everyone has the capacity to heal, and finding support is the first step.

  • Am I feeling too much, or nothing at all?
  • Why do friendships and/or relationships feel difficult, unfulfilling... or even missing?
  • Why am I trying so hard but nothing is changing?
  • Why can't I try harder? Am I lazy or bad?
  • Why am I sad, angry, anxious or on edge?
  • Why can't I concentrate?
  • Why do I feel hopeless and frustrated?
  • How can I stop feeling so isolated and alone?
  • Why do I feel so flawed, broken or worthless? Can I ever change?
  • Why do I hurt so much? Can it ever stop?
  • What is wrong with me?
  • I just feel so bad.

Take a sigh of relief: the hardest part of your journey is over. You found help. You're not doing it alone.

Autism Spectrum, ADHD & Attention

  • Autism Spectrum: Overview

People on the spectrum may use technology more or differently than their neurotypical peers. This can be driven, in part, by social skills, interests and sensory factors.

Therapy 2.0 offers neurodiverse-affirming therapy for individuals diagnosed or self-diagnosed with ASD.  Live better with science-backed psychotherapy that validates strengths & respects social, sensory and interest preferences.

  • Autism Spectrum: Women

Therapy 2.0 acknowledges women on the spectrum are frequently under-diagnosed and mis-diagnosed. Many women discover they are neurodiverse in their teens, twenties, thirties, forties and beyond. Online information seeking is often a key component of this discovery process.

We offer therapy and neurodiversity support  for women 16+. Most importantly, we are trusted allies, confidantes and subject-matter experts to explore self-discovery, insight and enhanced wellbeing.

  • Autism Spectrum: Men

Therapy 2.0 offers compassionate, judgement-free therapy and neurodiversity support for men 16+. We act as trusted allies, confidantes and solution-finders to support self-discovery, insight and enhanced wellbeing.

We recognize society socializes boys and men to express some emotions while minimizing others. Therefore, Therapy 2.0 acknowledges tech may be used to (1) calm down or amp up; (2) connect with others; (3) escape from difficult feelings or boredom; and/or (4) find answers to problems or struggles.

  • ADHD & Attention

Today's technology & social media offer 'quick bites' of content.

It is important to note, however, that  ADHD is a genetic, neurodevelopmental phenotype. Technology use cannot 'cause' ADHD.

People with ADHD may use the internet differently than their neurotypical peers. Therefore, problematic use of screens, apps and tech is an important factor to consider.

Depression & Anxiety

  • Depression & Anxiety

At Therapy 2.0, we acknowledge people with depression and/or anxiety may use screens, apps and tech to avoid emotions or even self-soothe. Additionally, the internet may be used to 'socialize without socializing', which can further exacerbate symptoms.

Importantly, a common feature of depression & anxiety can include rumination (the tendency to repeatedly think about the same topic over and over, without successful resolution).

Rumination can be exacerbated by social media use, and Therapy 2.0's founder considers social media rumination processes to better understand how these diagnoses can be impacted, unintentionally, by social media and tech use.

Body Dysmorphia

  • Body Dysmorphia

When people habitually see filtered and/or manipulated images online - or when people frequently enage with content that prioritizes specific features - expectations and values can change. Beliefs about what is normal (or needed) to live well can dramatically shift.

Therapy 2.0 acknowledges the role of screens, apps and tech upon body image. This foundational insight is embedded within our Body Dysmorphia support and therapy services.

Behavioral Addictions

  • Behavioral Addictions

Behavioral addictions (also known as 'process addictions') are not identical to substance addictions.

In the DSM, gambling disorder is the only recognized behavioral addiction, but there is a recommendation to include Internet Gaming Disorder as well.

While not formally codified in the DSM, commonly-treated internet-based behavioral addictions may include e-trading, scrolling, and general compulsive, uncontrolled internet use.  If clients feel their porn use is out of control, we employ a non-pathologizing approach grounded by Out of Control Sexual Behavior support.

To learn more about our support for people who struggle with gaming, scrolling, porn, e-trading (and more), feel free to review 'Internet Use Disorders' before jumping down to our special focus.

Internet Use Disorder

  • Internet Use Disorder

Is this a new term for you?

Internet Use Disorder is an umbrella term most frequently used outside the U.S. to describe a constellation of maladaptive behaviors driven by internet use.

Internet Use Disorder may be driven by gaming, out of control porn use, gambling, compulsive scrolling, or even habits and cues related to specific online platforms (like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Reddit or Discord), or specific digital environments (like Incel, RedPill, MGTOW spaces and more).

At Therapy 2.0, we offer support & therapy for a wide range of internet use disorders.

  • Gaming Support
  • Pornography Support
  • Shopping Support
  • Gambling Disorder & e-Trading Support
  • Social Media Support
  • AI Avatar Relationship Support
